The truth of the matter is that all humans have to go through the aging process. As people become older, they age, the effects of sun exposure and gravity, and not to mention the everyday stresses of life are often seen on the face. Such effects can include deep creases between the mouth and the nose, extra fat on the neck and/or slack skin, jowl-like jaw line. The solution to these issues is a mini facelift. The procedure can reverse these effects by removing extra fat and tightening the underlying and re-draping the skin.
Rhytidectomy, another name for this surgery is an operation that restores, of course, the effects of aging on the face, as mentioned above. Over time the stresses of life and other uncontrollable happenings can take a toll on beauty of the face. The once youthful tone of the tissues is lost and begins to sag. The environment and the sun cause lines to set into the surface of your face, which results in wrinkles and lines.
In some cultures the wrinkles and the lines are a display respect and yeas of wisdom, however, in many other cultures this is not the case. The wrinkles and the lines, which make them appear old is, instead, a sign of youth that is loss and competitive edge. So they often to chose to do have the mini facelift procedure preformed. So when you go in for this surgery, how should prepare?
Two weeks before the surgery you should avoid medication that contains aspirin as well as vitamin E. If you’re a smoker then you should either stop smoking or at least cut back to a few every day to decrease the chance of post operative tissues. Two days before the procedure do not drink alcohol. Your surgeon will inform you of anything else about how you should prepare for your mini facelift.
The mini facelift is often completed in combination with eyelid surgery, a forehead lift, chin lift or liposuction so there is an overall renewal of the face. The surgeon will begin with making incisions in front of the ear, inside the hairline at the temple.
At this time extra skin is removed and the tightening of the sagging muscles and connective tissues are done. There are some cases, in which, fatty deposits are also removed from under the chin and the neck. Afterwards, the incisions are closed with small sutures. Depending on what other procedures you’re having done the surgery can take between 1-3 hours.
After, the mini facelift there’s a thin, small tube that is temporarily inserted under the skin behind the ear, in order, to drain the blood that can possibly collect there. In addition, the surgeon might as well wrap your head in loose bandages so bruising and swelling is minimized. Recovery takes one week. The sutures, in 10-14 days, are removed.
